Empowering Communities in Pokhara, Nepal

Working with global volunteers to educate and serve those in our local community.

Our Mission

Shaja means common, shared, collective, or public. It signifies unity and partnership, indicating that something belongs to a community or is a joint venture rather than owned by a single individual.

Shaja Nepal's mission is to empower our local population in Pokhara, Nepal, by fostering sustainable development and improving the quality of life. Through our four programs: Women's Empowerment Project, Child Development, Community Development, and Education, we work with global volunteers to serve our local community's needs.

Our Process

Gender Equity

Facilitate skills-based workshops, and conduct discussions on human rights violations and health through our Women's Empowerment Program.

Child Development

Aid local teachers in the development of educational resources, working with pre-primary and primary school learners on reading, mathematical skills, motor coordination, and conversational English skills.

Community Development

Support the development of community infrastructure in Pokhara through renovation work at school classrooms, libraries, and bathrooms.

Education

Assist with teaching to improve literacy and numeracy skills of young learners and local women.

Community Feedback

"You will experience things which you might never otherwise experience, and you will learn things about yourself and others which will alter your perspective on the world for the better. Do yourself a favor, and get out there!"
